The ITT Programme

The practical and school-based nature of the one-year training programme ensures that all trainees will become career ready, confident teachers. Lincolnshire ITT will work with the Academy to ensure that trainees are placed locally as part of their commitment to work life balance.

Trainees build their teaching commitment gradually as their confidence grows – a very personalised approach is taken.

All training is delivered by local or national experts, to ensure that trainees have access to current research and best practice.

A long-standing partnership with the University of Lincoln means that the PGCE (60 master’s credits) is integrated into the ITT programme. As well as support from our experienced ITT team and in-school Induction Tutors, trainees will have full access to university services as well.

Training Duration

On this one-year training programme, trainees will have one day a week out of school for training and four days a week in their host school. During the course, all trainees will complete a second school placement for one half term to ensure they experience a different school setting.

Fees and Funding

The fee for SCITT QTS and PGCE is £9,250.

  • The trainee pays the fee for the training and assessment.
  • They may access student finance funding.
  • Trainees on this route will be supernumerary and will gradually build up their teaching over time. They are managed by the SCITT and although placed in schools, they are the SCITT’s responsibility under the trainee agreement. This is the route we are most familiar with up to now.
  • Secondary trainees may be entitled to a bursary if they have a minimum of a 2:2 degree and if they are training to teach in any of the eligible subjects.
