Testimonials

"I completed the Lincolnshire SCITT training program in 2019, and I couldn't be more impressed. What truly stood out was how personalised the training was. The program was to tailored me, which allowed me to progress at my own pace while receiving the right level challenge, which I could control. The blend of university based learning and practical experience in the classroom was invaluable. I was able to apply what I learned directly to real-life teaching situations, which helped me build confidence and improve my teaching quickly. The hands-on experience made all the difference in preparing me for a successful career in teaching. Overall, the Lincolnshire SCITT program provided an excellent balance of personalisation and practical experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to train as a teacher."

"Training to become a teacher at St George’s Academy through their SCITT program has been an incredibly positive and enriching experience. From the start, the staff was exceptionally welcoming, creating an environment where I felt supported and valued. The warmth and friendliness of everyone involved helped me settle in quickly, and I was never hesitant to ask for help or advice. The SCITT program is designed to be highly personalised, taking into account my unique strengths and areas for development. I was given tailored guidance and feedback, which allowed me to grow both professionally and personally. The mentors were always approachable and made sure that I had everything I needed to succeed. Furthermore, the program is progressive, encouraging continuous improvement and innovation in teaching practices. The dynamic structure of the training ensured that I was always challenged to think critically and creatively about my approach to teaching. The experience has not only equipped me with the tools to be an effective educator but also inspired a lifelong passion for teaching. I am pleased to say that due to this positive experience, I am lucky enough to work at St George’s Academy today."

"I completed my training as apart of the 2013/2014 cohort and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I had always struggled academically and had to work really hard to ensure I was successful, so having an alternative to a PGCE where you could learn in the role of a teacher suited me tremendously. I loved that I was able to take ownership of my classes and slowly put the pedagogy I learnt into practice. I also valued the opportunity to observe teachers in their classrooms- on a daily basis - so that I could actively practice and utilise what I had learnt. This experience also worked well for me as there was no alteration between university and being in school. We spent the entire year attending university on a Monday to gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of the pedagogy of teaching before spending the rest of the week in our placement school. Additionally, it was also really valuable to be able to complete a second place for term 3 in another school to look at comparisons between them, but also how we could apply our teaching to a different environment.

Personally, if I had to complete my training again, I would still choose the SCITT route every time. Not only did I thoroughly enjoy my experience, but I also loved the school so much that I have been here ever since, working my way up to be the Lead of Key Stage 3 in English and now, the Director of English for the Academy."

"My time training at St George’s Academy was absolutely invaluable. The support offered by the SCITT team and the incredible mentoring received by the History department helped to make me feel welcome within the school and gave me an enjoyable and positive training year. The school offered me a wide range of training opportunities, including delivering PSHE, teaching a wide range of abilities including classes of SEND students, and delivering A Level content. I cannot recommend training at such a diverse, positive and welcoming school – I am still here 6 years later with no intention of leaving! "
